Going back to the future? One Direction's Zayn Malik splashes out £2m on bizarre, futuristic country pile

He might have only found fame in the last couple of years, but One Direction's Zayn Malik is already embracing the cult of bizarre celebrity houses.
In a bid to out-do bandmate Harry Styles, who has recently purchased a plush north London pad, the 19-year-old global superstar has splashed his cash on a futuristic house in Hertfordshire.
The new pad might have 5 bedrooms and a large outdoor swimming pool, but the white and chrome new-build looks slightly incongruous in the rural English countryside.

With large, chrome front doors, surrounded by three large windows and a chrome garage door, the house sits back from the road behind a wooden security gate.

While most of the other houses on the street are around the £1m mark, Zayn clearly paid over the average price for the area, splashing £2m on the property.
The contemporary style house, which has sharp edges and a flat roof, has four bathrooms, a roof deck, a sun terrace and a separate steam room and jacuzzi.

He might still be a teenager but Zayn has made sure that his new house has an expansive wine cellar and that all the rooms have under-floor heating.

After a summer spent jetting around the world to promote the band's debut album, Zayn is clearly looking forward to spending a little bit of time in his new home with girlfriend Perrie Edwards.
The young West Yorkshire-born singer who's been busy promoting the band's new single Live While We're Young, over the last few days, left it to the delivery men to move house for him.
On Monday a team of removal men turned up at the new property to move in some of the youngster's possessions.
